Sacred Wisdom
A Medicine Woman’s Prayer
By Sheree Bliss Tilsley
I will not rescue you,
For you are not powerless.
I will not fix you,
For you are not broken.
I will not heal you,
For I see you in your wholeness.
I will walk with you through the darkness,
As you remember your light.
When this prayer appeared in my Instagram feed, it felt like a gift—an incantation that reminded me of my role as a guide in the sacred process of healing and transformation.
I am a space holder. A witness. A facilitator of connection—not a rescuer or fixer. My purpose is to reflect the light and power that already exist within you, even when the shadows seem overwhelming.
Like the match that ignites a fire, I may spark awareness in a coaching or healing session, helping energy move and clear blockages. But the flame that continues to burn—that’s yours. The light shines through you, fueled by your courage to release what no longer serves and reclaim what has always been yours.
As I sat with this prayer, I found it speaking not only to how I serve others but also to myself. It whispered truths I needed to hear on my own journey of becoming:
I am powerful. The more present and conscious I become, the less I need to be “rescued.” When I act with intention and awareness, I create a life aligned with my soul’s calling.
I am healing. I choose to release the old stories that once told me I wasn’t whole. I am capable, creative, and complete.
I am resilient. I have walked through more than one dark night of the soul. Each time, I found my light again—and every time, it burned brighter than before.
Darkness is not something to run from. It is a necessary companion in the dance of wholeness, a portal to transformation. When I root myself in the earth and open to spirit, I find peace. I remember the yin and yang of being human: the dance of shadow and light, the magic of becoming.
So today, I offer this prayer to you, and to myself:
Thank you, Universe, for your messages of wisdom.
Thank you, Self, for your openness to receive them.
